Alyson is Old!

Yes, today is my sweetheart's birthday. She's now a very young 36! The kids think that we're both ancient!

Patriotic... sort of

On Valentine's Day the kids and I attended a welcome home celebration for a good friend in our ward who just returned from his third year-long tour in Iraq.
Reid and Adin made the front page of The Coloradoan, (click here) but even Grandma didn't recognize them. They were dressed in their army gear, but it was so cold and windy that they bundled up in their hoodies (who needs coats in the middle of winter?!)... incidentally, they look more like a Palestinian terrorist and a Klan member.

A True Woman

Smiling through the pain

It takes a lot to get Jane down, but a dislocated elbow (also known as nurse maid's elbow) did the trick. She dislocated it playing with Reid & Adin in the nursery at the gym the other day. She was crying inconsolably when they came to get me, which is very uncharacteristic of her, so I knew immediately what the problem was when I touched her arm and she winced, since this has happened before.
We waited for Daddy to come home to fix her, an she sat unmoving in the arm chair with her blankie watching Sesame Street.
Adin came in crying a little while later because he hurt his hand, so while I attended to him Jane slipped out of the room and the next thing I knew she was crying at the top of the stairs. She couldn't carry the blanket she went to get and wanted me to being her and the blanket back down, and then motioned for me to give Adin that blankie. Once I understood, she beamed and kept smiling at Adin.
I love seeing Jane's little womanly instincts and she's not even two yet!

p.s. I should add that although I tried three times to but her elbow back in place, Daddy did it immediately. I even used the same technique he's taught me, but I guess these past 7 years of training have really paid off for him! :)

Connor Wins Again

Last night Connor defeated the defending District Champion 8-2! It was a great match and he's now un-defeated in the district! It was great to have Grandma and Grandpa there to cheer as well. I can't believe how nervous we get even though we're not out there.

Connor Wins 1st Duel!

Connor had his first duel meet of his wrestling career last night. He pinned his guy in the 1st round and looked like a true stud! He's now addicted to the wrestling life. By the way, this was against the feeder middle school for the 8 time state champion Ponderosa High School.
