Happy Anniversary 43 years

Today marks 43 years toward eternity. We had a most spectacular day. Temp in the high 70's crystal blue sky, light breeze. Up at 6 AM eastern (4 AM Mountain, 3 AM Pacific) and headed to the harbor for a fishing trip. We motored out about 30 miles, no land in sight and stood two feet apart with about 50 folks fishing for what ever the sea would provide. Mom baited and unhooked her own squid (bait) and the fish she caught. She caught a Ramora, bizarre fish and together we caught about 30 or so fish. Unfortunately we did not win the boat prize for the biggest fish and could only keep 4 of the fish we hooked. These became our anniversary dinner, filleted and grilled with butter.

We are grateful for the years together and most of all we are grateful for our family. We talked about all the memories and how different life could have been if we had never married. We would do it all again. Good years and a great life. Difficulties and all.

9 and 1/2 half hours on the sea and a new year beginning.

71st Annual bike week Daytona

You would not believe the number of bikes (motorcycles) in town. The sound is every where. Unfortunately it is also raining. Miserable day to ride a bike. Mom and I went shopping and maybe found an alternative mission "Bikers for Jesus". There are an amazing number of religious based riders. We got trapped in the rain and I had to make a dash back to the condo to get the truck and then recover mom. I think she just wanted to mingle with her new found friends in black.

Old Oaks and old folks

This "live oak" (that is really the species) is over 2000 years old. It is the most amazing tree. We hiked in the marsh around this beauty. It is incredible what wild country there still is in the area.

To fish or not

We are supposed to go fishing tomorrow, but they called and cancelled due to rough seas. Now we are scheduled to go next Wednesday. Meanwhile grandma caught this whopper.

Would you send these people on a mission?

Would you send a beautiful woman and a man with a palm growing out of his head on a mission?

We got a call today and a request for another picture so because we were at the temple (again) we took this picture and sent it by e-mail. This little task seems so insignificant and yet when you all were just babies, we struggled with the cost of getting a picture developed and it would have taken at least 3 weeks for the picture to arrive. And then the quality of the photo would not even come close to this quality.

Now we are so old we just talk about the days of yor.
