Home from Holland

Mom after about 18 hours of travel.  She is on
a couch in the hotel by the elevators waiting for our
ride to the boat.
Our home in Holland.  A river barge, the Charlemagne.
Kuckenhof gardens.  one of so many unbelievable shots
this just may be the garden of Eden.
Finally a pair of shoes that fit.
Typical Holland.  Windmills for everything.  Grinding, pumping,
sawing wood.  Everything.
We are back.  We had a great time once we got there and after we got home.  I have decided that this country does not want people to travel.  It is such a hassle to get on and off a plane. Especially when you have customs and all the rigor ma roll of security.  However I have found a goofier system than the US.  In Holland they set up a series of stations and interview every passenger getting on board a plane.  How ridiculous can you get.  At least they do not make you take off your shoes.
The cruise was very relaxing.  There were only 31 people on board and each day the guide from the boat took everyone interested in a walking or bus tour.  The scenery along the canals was fantastic and the flowers were like a bit of heaven.
Unfortunately we are back to the routine and totally wiped out.  We arrived home at 1:10 AM saturday morning and are now completely off time.  It is 9:50 AM and mom is ready for a nap.  So much for traveling and old age.

Just a note to say hi, and that we miss Grandma and Grandpa while they're away. Don't worry, Jane isn't growing too much.

I took some great pics while Cami and her kids were here, but they're on Grandma's camera, so I'll post them when they get back.

By the way, if you want to see more pics of Jane, you'll have to look on our blog. Sorry, Adam. :)

I have started a new blog for our family, although we will keep posting on this extended family blog, as well. I've included a link on the right side of the page.

Baby Jane

Well, Jane was born last night and even we made up it up there for the grand event. She is a beautiful little girl and has already been well accepted into the fold. I only have a few pics, so you'll all have to wait for Britt to get the good ones up here. She's a cutie!

Hooray!

We have great news! (No, Jane is still not born yet). This morning Derek received results of Step 3 COMLEX (the licensing exam he has to take) and he PASSED! We are so thrilled to have passed one of the last major hurdles to him becoming a fully licensed doc. What a relief! Maybe that's what Jane was waiting for... to know that her dad is actually competent for her delivery.

In case you're wondering how Derek's doing with his first year of residency... here is a picture from a few weeks ago one morning after returning home from work when he was on night shift... we're so glad that rotation is over!
