BOLDER BOULDER 2012

Mia decided that this was NOT the year to start the Bolder Boulder so it was just the boys! Connor placed 3rd with a 35:53. I placed 10th with a 38:50. Preston placed 20th with a 50:08. And then there was Adin! I had run back to run it with him and he started out strong, but then the batteries started running low. At mile 5, I said "Adin, if you really push this last mile you can finish in under an hour!" He took off like a bullet and I have never seen that kid push so hard in my life! He did it too! He did a 59:44 (33rd) and then basically passed out! He was really, really hurting! I had to call in Albuterol for him. You can really see the suffering in these pics! Right after the Albuterol, he was the same old Adin again!

Missing the days of young children practicing piano?

Luke loves piano-- he wakes up to practice voluntarily. Apparently we need to get him in voice lessons too so he can hone his falsetto skills.

Like Legos for Mom

I am so excited that I just installed a drip system in our front flower beds! Mostly now because watering the flowers in the front beds (and hanging baskets!) will be a simple flip of the switch. At some point it will become automated, but we are making progress! Now I need to get the boys out here and teach them so they can apply their kit building skills.

50 foot paint job

Actually, it was 400 linear feet of 1x4's that these boys painted, and even if it's not perfect, I'm proud of Ethan and Reid for getting the job done! It's nice to have some hard working young men around this place!

Even better than Connor's latest track splits...

I received a message on Facebook today from a friend that we knew in Traverse City.  I was in a book club with Reiko Lewis and was a YW leader to her daughters.  Reiko and her husband now live in Denver and their youngest daughter, Margaret, is a Senior in high school. 

So Rob, Margaret and I were at a track meet at Cherry Creek.... Margaret runs the 100 and 300 hurdles.  I over hear the family in front of me talking to their son (who runs for Legend High school.) about running his event.......and I hear the dad talk about the MTC....and I quickly figure out they must be lds.....and Rob is over in the shade talking to a guy with at "Y" hat on....(who ends up being the Bishop of his Legend High School area ward...) and I told them I was sitting by another LDS family.....and he told me their name was Weaver....so after the boy ran, I asked the mom if she knew Brittany and Derrick Weaver! She was so impressed....and the rest is history....What a nice family!

and then later when Rob and I were relaxing in the shade I over heard Connor talking to his buddies about colleges and stuff.....and his friend asked, "so if States fell on a Sunday, you wouldn't run?" and he so plainly, and confidently looked his friend in the eye, and simply said, "no." it was so simple and also to amazing. What a great thing families can teach their children...what amazing confidence the gospel teaches us. I just wanted to pass that along, with out sounding like I was stalking your nephew........ 

Connor, what an amazing young man you are. Thank you for standing up for what you believe in, in all times and places.  I love it when our kids get caught doing what is right! You are a great example to us all.  Thanks for honoring the Weaver name!
